Following an audit request, the Tokyo Audit Commission recommended that the police officers bear some of the compensation costs, leading to this demand for 5.28 million yen.
Following the wrongful prosecution of Okawahara Kako-ki, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has sought reimbursement from three members of the Metropolitan Police Department's Public Security Bureau. This action comes after the city disbursed approximately 185 million yen in compensation. Acting on the recommendation of the Tokyo Audit Commission, which followed a resident audit request, the city is now pursuing ¥5.28 million from the officers implicated in the erroneous investigation.
